Dickinson Middle School
Modern Design in a Rural Setting
Christopher Cox was again brought on as a Contract Design Director and Creative Consultant for The DLR Group, and has been involved in several ongoing projects over the past 2 years.
His first project launched in 2016 and it was to develop the branding for a middle school located in Dickinson North Dakota. DLR was developing the architecture while Cox worked in tandem with the architect, interior designer, and Mortenson Construction to create all of the branding and graphics needed for the project. Cox developed the core identity, positioning and all of the environmental graphics associated with the space. It was an effort that took the better part of a year to come to full fruition not withstanding the phenomenal architectural plan that was developed by DLR before the engagement. The logo mark was actually developed to echo the key architectural features of the building itself.
The school consolidated several local districts into one. It offered a new space, new opportunity, and new jobs to the local community. It was very well received and has been so far loved by the children in attendance. So much so in fact that the school Principal sent a photograph of a chalk drawing done on the pavement outside the school by students depicting their new school logo.
