The Terminator Poster

I was approached by the licensing company ‘Davinci’s Dreams’ to produce an officially licensed Terminator print under the watchful eye of Studio Canal. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness was not allowed. This posed a tough question that begged to be answered, how to make the poster all about Arnie with no Arnie. The solution was to use a carefully constructed silhouette of Schwarzenegger as he looked in the film. This backdrop served as the canvas for the layout of the rest of the illustrations. I knew I wanted to capture as much of the story within the image as possible while still maintaining some order to the composition. The poster was printed with neon inks in both a regular and variant (neon 80’s) version. The poster got a personal thumbs up from Schwarzenegger who has since used the image to introduce himself at recent conference appearances.
